I AM HERE FOR YOU!

As an intern at the Crown College Counseling Center I want you, first and foremost to know one thing - You matter and I am here for you.

Counseling is a place for sharing, listening and learning. Everyone needs a safe place where they can go to talk with someone who will listen with an open and unbiased ear and hopefully provide some guidance or advice.  I hope to do that for you.  I'll look forward to meeting you.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Erin McKenzie! I am a counseling intern for the 2023-2024 school year at Crown College.

My passion is working with young adults who are experiencing difficulties relating to life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, etc. My approach is always person-centered, however I also utilizes mindfulness , evidence-based approaches associated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and various other clinical modalities.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Humanities from The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Health humanities is rooted in the combined study of health care and the humanities including traditional science & medicine, human dignity, values, and health care ethics all in an effort to provide humane, dignified care. The study of health humanities prepared me to see clients and students as unique individuals that deserve an equally individualized level of care. I am working towards my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. Through rigorous study of counseling curriculum, I am learning how to best serve diverse clientele with a wide variety of mental health concerns.

I've gained valuable clinical experience completing my clinical practicum at MN Adult & Teen Challenge in Minneapolis, working with adults who struggled with a wide variety of mental health issues relating to/or as a result of their addiction. Inlcuding other administrative roles, I have over 5 years experience working in the mental health field so far.
